The training we provide is based on the science of Andragogy. Andragogy is the art and science of how to teach adults which is very different and often the opposite of the art and science of teaching children which is called Pedagogy. We all experienced pedagogy growing up when we went to school. However, in our trainings you are going to notice the use of a lot of different colors and evocative images, this is done to catch the attention of our visual learners. You will hear a lot of stories, parables, short catchy phrases, and music that resonates with our auditory learners. As well as games, experiential activities, and small group discussions to activate our kinesthetic learners. It’s well proven that if all I do is lecture to you like most trainers do, average retention after just a few days will be about 5-10% - that’s it! However, when we apply the principles of Adult Learning by having you discuss key learnings in small groups, practice it, and ultimately get participants to teach it or apply the learnings in real life we can expect up to 90% retention on those key learnings that were applied.


We offer two types of trainings: one targets general staff, while the other develops leaders. Although many of the titles are similar, the learning goals and approach is very different as one is designed to target the practical needs of a staff person, while the other the particular needs of a leader. Leadership Development Trainings

According to research, 40% of newly promoted managers fail within the first 18-months. Many new executives spend their entire careers aiming to reach the top level of a company, only to fall short at the finish line. These courses focus on understanding and applying the often-unsaid requirements of being an effective and respected leader.

The following titles are half-day trainings. They can be a standalone class, or be built into a customized leadership development series that best meets your leader’s needs:

  • Famed management consultant, thought leader and best-selling author Peter Drucker coined the phrase, “culture eats strategy for lunch.” Hawaii is littered with a long line of bruised and bloodied bodies of bright, articulate, and well-meaning ha’ole leaders who have suffered through this axiom firsthand.

    This training is designed to help those new to the islands succeed by exposing them to deeply rooted and unseen cultural concepts that could make the difference between their success and failure.

    • About the Two Types of Culture that are constantly at play between those born and raised in the islands versus those who are from a task-based culture.

    • The deeper meaning of core cultural concepts like “aloha” and “Ohana.”

    • Practical tips on how those new to the island can accelerate acceptance, rather than stumble their way to it.

    • The meaning of key local words that they need to know.

    Note – this train can also be provided as one on one coaching sessions for leaders who are transitioning to the islands when or before they start their new job in the islands.

  • So, you want to become a supervisor… good for you… leadership is a noble aspiration. Serving as a supervisor can be a richly fulfilling experience or one that brings you and those under you to tears. Consequently, as an aspiring leader it’s important that you know what you are getting into before placing yourself and those under you into a potentially unpleasant situation.

    This half-day training is designed to help aspiring supervisors become aware of what they are getting themselves into before applying for a supervisory position by:

    • Learning the non-delegatable roles and responsibilities of a leader.

    • Understanding the unsaid (often demanding) requirements every supervisor must fulfill.

    • Taking a private, introspective look to see if you have what it takes to be a successful supervisor.

  • Let’s get one thing straight from the start, there are no perfect teams. So, cut yourself some slack because in every organization, even at the highest levels, people are people and because people are imperfect so are teams. The goal therefore is not to strive for some mythical, idealized team, but instead to maximize your existing team’s effectiveness.

    If you research the characteristics of effective teams what you will discover four common themes or characteristics that consistent rise to the top regardless of the industry. This training will focus on the four core elements commonly found on effective teams.
